My name is Mrs. Jenny Klass. I am thrilled to be in the classroom again this year! I have taught all levels of English and worked for 13 years at BJU Creative Services editing, proofing and writing before going back to teaching two years ago. The Lord has given me a desire to be back in the classroom again, and He has so very clearly placed me here at BJA. My passion is to teach this next generation of young people how to communicate the Truth in a clear, concise, loving way and to" shine as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation." Phil. 2:15
An even bigger passion of mine is my family: my husband, Kevin, and our two daughters. I truly am blessed and thankful for my precious family!
On this website you will find assignments, handouts and students' writing samples. I will do my best to keep this up to date! If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email.

My philosophy of technology in the classroom:
First, let me say, I love Google Classroom! I have to admit that just as recent as a year ago I wasn't saying that, but I was ignorant! With trepidation I began to just take the plunge and do my best with it. It did not take long at all to realize what an asset it can be to a classroom. I plan on using it even more this school year along with some other resources, such as more online homework helps and examples taught by me that the students can access at any time. Also, I plan on having the students access at home the videos I usually show in class in order to free up class time for one-on-one help.
All that said, I am still an advocate for some old-fashioned habits that have recently made a come back due to educators and researchers finding that we don't multi-task with technology as well as we thought we did. For this reason, I have my students hand write all their notes. Check out the article below that explains the science behind handwriting. We will also be experimenting with the Socratic method of teaching which is basically a tool to get students to think more deeply about what they are reading through the use of questioning. Another old-fashioned element: memorizing poetry. We will talk about the importance of memorizing classical poetry and what this can add to a person's overall education.
